I seriously had a column in mind. When I left the office to head home, pack and take Lil and Allison to Florida, I knew I’d be writing one on the road.

As I pound this out on the laptop as my girls collapse from a full day touring Universal Studios, I’m on the road but will probably be back home as you’re reading this. I had intended to share with you a typical adventure of a Queens co-op and the bizarre behaviors that overtake many when they become co-op directors. But sadly, I left the co-op by-laws I was intending to use sitting on my desk at home and really wanted to share with you some of the highlights of this popular Queens lifestyle. So, you’ll have to wait -- probably till next week -- as will the lucky co-op board I intend talk about.

We’re going to spend one more day in Orlando and make our way to mom’s in Boca Raton. Now Boca is like Queens south; it’s the place to retire. My mother, mother-in-law and lots of others have made southern Florida an extension of New York. You expect to run into friends visiting family and family visiting friends when you’re in Boca –Queens just isn’t far away.

However, when you go to Orlando -- Universal this time -- you don’t expect the home borough to fill your day. Orlando is for fantasy not reality and Queens, it’s the center of the real world.

But our day at Universal was filled by Queens. The pictures below share with you a brief glimpse of our day’s images of Queens while allowing for me leaving the co-op by-laws at home and most importantly, letting me join Lil and Allison as we all try to rejuvenate for another hard day’s work at vacationing.

See ya!

Universal Place

No matter how far you roam, Queens is never far from the heart or the mind. At Universal Studios in Orlando, Florida three signs of home: (top) Outside the Men In Black ride, the NY State Pavillion from Flushing Meadows Corona Park -- that’s Allison at the foot of the towers; (above) the TRIBUNE building, of Metropolis; (middle) a true sign of the Universal nature of Queens.
