| GALS TAKE ON GOP:
We hear that the Dem partys new strategy to attack entrenched GOP State Senators
is to run women against them to capitalize on the Hillary female vote this November.
Thats why Liz Krueger is taking on GOP veteran Roy Goodman on the East Side
and Lorraine Koppell, Ollies wife, is going after Guy Vellela
in the Bronx. Vellelas also got other headaches the Manhattan DAs
office is reportedly investigating some of his law clients and subpoenaed some documents
from his Manhattan law firm last week. |
AL & PATRICK: Politics does make strange bedfellows.
No, were not referring to Rudy
and Judi or Cristyne.
Were talking Congressman Patrick
Kennedy, chair of the Dem Cong. Campaign Committee and son of liberal Senator Ted
Kennedy, and former NY Senator, staunch GOPer Al DAmato.
DAmato, who was once one of the most partisan members
of Congress, angered some of his fellow GOPers recently, when he agreed to help with a
$1000 per person fundraiser for Patrick Kennedy, which was ultimately postponed because of
the death of Cardinal OConnor. |
| LEVY PLAYS
POLITICS: Now that it seems that hes resolidified his 4-3 advantage at the Bd.
of Ed., Harold Levy is reportedly working the local elected leaders to gain their
support for Chancellor as well. According to one politician, Levy has been going to great
lengths to provide Councilmembers, State Senators and Assemblymembers with detailed
information about the performances of schools in their district. Were told he is
crediting West Side State Senator Eric Schneidermans political newsletter for
the idea. |
Irony At
Gracie Mansion
Just days after Rudy Giuliani's health announcement and
moments before Howard Safir's similar announcement, Newsday ran the story below
reporting on the Mayor's proposed budget. We guess, the headline says it all.
Hillary's
Fingerprints?
One of the big questions everyone has been
asking: Why did the media choose to break the Rudy girlfriend story last week when
most insiders knew about it for at least six months?
Dick Morris, an expert on the Clintons
and their propensity for hardball politics, suggested on NY1 that it was Hillary
and her operatives who were behind the Posts breaking of the Judith Nathan
story.
Morris suggested that Clinton decided that
with the prostate cancer story breaking, it was a good time to pile on to try to force
Rudy out of the race. The former Clinton insider said that the sequence of events smacked
of Clintons modus operandi to strike while the opponent is down.
Hmmm!
The Rudy Curse
Most New Yorkers probably dont
believe in curses, but with the events of last week, some might want to reconsider this
belief.
In the wake of the murder of Patrick
Dorismond by City cops in March,
Rudy Giuliani and Howard Safir came under fire in the press for releasing
some sealed juvenile delinquent files of Dorismond in an attempt to show that
the man who scuffled with the cops was, to use Rudys phrase, "not an altar
boy."
Well, as it turned out, the Haitian
immigrants son was not only an actual "altar boy" at his local Church, his
mother seems to have magical powers.
The grieving mom promised to put a curse on
the Mayor and the police commish in order to settle the score for her sons death.
Alas, two months later, both men, who are
only in their mid-50s, were diagnosed with prostate cancer.
Not to mention the marital strife and its fallout that
Giuliani is experiencing.
