Models Of Queens
Queens Ingenue

Age: 13
Height: 5’4”
Weight: 114 lbs.
Camera Two Studios

Queens modeling ingenue Connie first got in front of the camera only a few weeks ago, but had no problems shining.

“I just got my portfolio made a little while ago,” she said, “but I’m definitely ready to start working.”

While she’s only just begun her modeling career, Connie has already planned out her next step, and said she’ll “probably want to start acting” once she’s done taking the fashion world by storm.

Connie said she can’t wait to enter the world of haute couture, and lists Oscar De La Renta, Giorgio Armani, and Ralph Lauren among her favorite designers.

When she’s not dreaming of legging her way down the catwalk, this young star spends her time hitting the books at school.

This fall Connie will be entering the ninth grade at John Bowne High School in Kew Gardens Hills.

Her favorite subject is English, and although Connie admits that “school isn’t really fun,” she said she enjoyed reading “The Outsiders” – the classic novel of teenage angst.

While Connie likes going to school in Queens, her favorite activity around the borough is definitely shopping, “especially at Queens Center,” she said.

Connie said she has plenty of fun in her neighborhood of Jackson Heights, even though “it’s kind of quiet.”

Connie explained she has “lots of friends in the area.”

However, she did agree that her parents probably appreciate the peace and quiet of her residential neighborhood a bit more than she does.

Weisenfeld Eaten!

His political enemies celebrate as political hoohah Jeff Weisenfeld – while on a goodwill mission to the People's Republic of China – is devoured by a local dragon at the Emperor's summer palace in Beijing.

Play Ball!

Our friends at the City Comptroller’s office inform us that regular season Major League Baseball games generate at least $2 million apiece to the city’s economy, while post-season games contribute at least $9 million to $20 million apiece (with the steeper amounts generated by World Series games).

So as these overpaid superstar athletes connive to take a bigger piece of the pie from the mega- businessman team owners, the fans and the economy stand to suffer the most.

This year, with the economy still reeling from 9-11 and presently shocked by an ethical scandal, New York needs every cent of the regular game proceeds and rebuilding will certainly be enhanced by  that post season windfall.

Patriotism? Do it for the country.

Loyalty? Do it for the fans.

A baseball strike may be viewed as strike three for the sport!

Infamous Queens

Noreaga

Queens rapper Noreaga recently hit music stores with his first solo album “N.O.R.E,” a heart-warming, profanity-filled collection of tunes about murders, rapes, sexual encounters and gangs.

While the album’s lyrics are chock-full of curses and potentially offensive slang, it has gotten excellent reviews from rap connoisseurs across the country, who praise Noreaga’s smoothness and his ability to adapt to any style.

Noreaga’s website at http://members.tripod.com/critikall includes a bio of the rapper, who proudly states that he is from Lefrak City, which, for some reason, he calls Iraq. The website’s text is also full of references to Queens, including one that says that Noreaga – also known as Superthug – can match up with “other heavyweights from the infamous borough that is Queens.”

Infamous borough? Sure, Queens was the home of some other “bad boy” rappers, like Ja Rule, Russell Simmons, LL Cool J, and Nas... but infamous?

The songs on Noreaga’s album also have references to Queens.

While “N.O.R.E” is Noreaga’s first solo work, it actually is not his first album. His first go around was with another Queens rapper named Capone in the rap group Noreaga-N-Capone. Even though that group didn’t get very far, Capone did make a name for himself by being arrested at the Queens nightclub Club Juan Pachango last year.

Maybe Queens is more infamous than we thought.

Harvey & Tina

The break-up between Queens mogul Harvey Weinstein and Talk Mag editor Tina Brown is final.

Harvey Weinstein

Weinstein recently bought out Brown’s contract for $1 million, officially ending the partnership between the entertainment company and the political glitzy magazine that fell under the weight of sluggish advertising sales.

But Brown has no regrets. “It was great rock’ n’ roll,” she told the New York Daily News adding, “Harvey was great to work with and I’m very proud of what we did.”Brown plans to vacation and take it easy for the rest of the summer, according to the published report.

Meanwhile, Weinstein is busy as a bee.  He has been spotted at the Los Angeles premiere of Steven Soderbergh’s new film “Full Frontal” that apparently features a character having a remarkable resemblance to Weinstein who says, “My brother Bob should see this.” Also Weinstein, according to the report, helped set up a Milan meeting between Abe Foxman who heads the Jewish Anti-Defamation League and “Life Is Beautiful” actor Roberto Benigni, who is in the process of making a version of “Pinocchio” for Miramax.

Rap Battle Continues

Queens’ favorite bad-boy rapper and proud Queensbridge Project native Nas, isn’t taking any guff from longtime rap rival Jay-Z.  For those of you following the QConfidential, last week Jay-Z issued a live radio challenge to Nas, suggesting that the two perform a lyrical pay-per-view television battle for the respect of rap fans worldwide.  He also called for both artists to put up $1 million for the challenge, the proceeds of which would we be donated to charity.

In a statement released on Aug. 12, Long Island City native Nas responded to Jay-Z’s jab by turning down the Brooklyn born rapper.  “Pay-per-view is for wrestlers and boxers, I make records,” Nas said.  “If Jay-Z wants to battle, he should drop his album the same day I do and let the people decide.”

Jay-Z’s new album, The Blueprint 2: The Gift and the Curse, is scheduled to be released on Nov. 5, two weeks before Nas’ new disc, God’s Son, hits stores.  The always prolific Nas will also release The Lost Tapes, a collection of previously unreleased material, on Sept. 3.

Confidentially New York . . .
