Cuisine: West Indian and Chinese

Hours: Open seven days a week Monday through Saturday, 11 a.m. to 3 a.m.; and Sunday, 12 noon to 3 a.m.

Unbeknownst to many Southeast Queens residents, All Nations Sports Bar and Restaurant is slowly becoming the place to be to watch world championship sports like cricket and enjoy West Indian cuisine.

The bar was established in 1998 by Debbie Ramjas and her son Komar, who envisioned a place where cricket fans could come together and watch their favorite teams, via satellite, on the bar’s two big screen televisions.

But aside from promoting World Cricket Associations, such as the South Africa and West Indian Leagues, the bar also promotes local cricket teams.

But aside from providing cricket enthusiasts with an excellent venue to enjoy their favorite sport, fans can now sample some of the best West Indian and Chinese cuisine available.

According to Debbie, the bar was expanded last year to include a restaurant.

Patrons can either enter All Nations through the bar or the restaurant entrance. Once inside the bar and restaurant is separated by a wall giving both sports fans and food connoisseurs room to coexist. The tables are nicely furnished and very spacious, able to easily accommodate couples and families of eight.

The menu has both West Indian and Chinese dishes and begins with the appetizers, which range in price from $4 to $10.75 and include Chicken Wings, Fried Butter Fish, Fried Red Snapper, Roast Duck, Tandoor Chicken, and a plate of 10 jumbo shrimps called the Pepper Shrimp.

The lunch specials are served daily from 11:30 a.m. till 3 p.m. and include Chinese dishes such as the Chicken Lo Mein, Pepper Steak, Chicken with Broccoli, Chicken with Garlic Sauce, and Beef with Mixed Vegetables.

Each lunch special costs $5.50 and comes served with a bowl of White Rice and a free can of soda.

The West Indian menu ranges in price from $1.50 to $8 and consists of Curry Chicken, Curry Goat, Curry Beef, Curry Duck, and Dhall Puri. All dishes are served with White Rice and a plate of Roti Bread.

The menu’s house specials range in price from $7.25 to $9.50 and include dishes such as the General Tso’s Chicken, which is made from cubes of tender chicken, quick fried until crisp in a sauce of Ginger, Garlic, and Chinese spices. The Happy Family dish consists of slices of roast pork, chicken, beef, and shrimp all sautéed with mixed vegetables and the house’s very own Brown Sauce. Finally, the Seafood Deluxe Plate is made with lobster, shrimp, and scallops, which is stir-fried with Vegetables in the chef’s very own special sauce.

Despite the overwhelming selection, I opted for my favorite West Indian dish, Curry Beef. The meal came served in three different plates, each holding the Curry Beef, Rice, and Roti Bread. Although, the Curry Beef was spicy it is still one of my favorite plates.

If you are a die-hard Cricket fan or just looking for a nice West Indian Restaurant to visit, try the All Nations Sports Bar & Restaurant and I promise you will not be disappointed.
