As he’s done for the past few years, my husband arranged for us to have Mother’s Day brunch with our friends, and this year’s plans brought us to the Sheraton Hotel at Kennedy Airport to enjoy a pleasant dining surprise.

Located on the lower level, the beautifully appointed dining room was busy with early arrivals finishing up their meals or going back for more as we arrived.

Given that I was starving, I gave myself license to make a beeline for the buffet, and what a buffet it was — chicken marsala, baked cod with tomato, bacon, roasted new potatoes, assorted cold cereals and bagels, croissants, baked salmon and fresh vegetable medley of steamed green and yellow zucchinis, cauliflower and broccoli cooked al dente.

The chef was standing by to make omelets with all the "fixin’s" and espresso, milk, fresh orange and grapefruit juices were also free flowing.

Our party was given our own dining area (a porch off the main dining room) that seats close to forty people perfect for those who bring along group of children.

The attentive wait staff served up delicious Mimosas (champagne and orange juice) which we enjoyed along with the soft playing classical music in the background.

Although it was difficult after enjoying a delicious main course, we did not forget to leave room for dessert consisting of chocolate-on-chocolate cake, assorted cookies, chocolate mousse and fresh-fruit salad.

The chocolate-on-chocolate cake tasted like a slice of heaven with it’s moist, creamy and rich flavor.

Following a meal, diners can visit the balcony area on the same level to enjoy the view of the outdoor area complete with a gazebo, three-tiered waterfall, terra-cotta flooring, a river rock wall fence and picnic tables creatively assigned.

So for a fulfilling buffet experience sure not to disappoint ($22 including tips and gratuities for our reasonably large dining party) give the Sheraton a try.
