Boulevard Fish, Chicken and
Chips is one of the legends of
Farmers Boulevard.

For more than 20 years now this little store front take-out place has served the commercial strip as well as the residential neighborhood of St. Albans with Southern as well as Caribbean fare.

It has also been a source of comfort to many an expectant mother’s late night cravings and a handy spot to feed guests of an impromptu party.

The daily features include fried fish, chicken and french fries along with other goodies such as macaroni and cheese, greens, candied yams, mashed potato and homemade peach cobbler and sweet potato pies, jerk chicken, and roasted fish.

According to Ernesto Rockett, who lives on the block, this take out place is as good as it gets when you’re looking to buy a quick, affordable bite.

“I’ve been eating there for a good 20 years,” said Rockett, munching on a freshly purchased fish sandwich. “It’s very good and it’s clean,” he said.

The prices are good too.

A Whiting sandwich costs only $4.25, add another dollar and you have an order of fries with that. Two pieces of chicken cost only $1.95 — add fries and your total is budget friendly $2.75 plus tax and delivery is available for those who prefer that service.

I always get the fried fish sandwich on white bread add a dash of hot sauce and I’m literally and figuratively, good to go.

For convenient take out, Boulevard Fish, Chicken & Chips is a stand out.
