Forty years after their decision to offer culinary delights to the locals of St. Andrew, Jamaica, the Hawthorne family has brought their island flavor—in the form of the Golden Krust Caribbean Bakery—to New York in 1989.

Since then, Golden Krust has bloomed into 43 franchises in New York, New Jersey, Connecticut, Georgia and Florida — four of which are in the southeast Queens region.

The St. Albans location offers the famous, gold-crusted patties in soy, vegetable, (hot) beef, shrimp, (curry) chicken and meatloaf varieties, each for under $1.50.

Sweet & sour chicken, curry chicken, jerk chicken, brown stew chicken, codfish and callaloo and oxtail entrees are also available with your choice of rice and peas or white rice and sides of plantain and steamed cabbage.

Freshly squeezed carrot and tangerine juices, Ting, D&G Jamaican soft drinks and others are also available.  The eatery seats about 15 comfortably.

Whether you eat-in or take your meal out, Golden Krust Caribbean Bakery and Restaurant offers a taste rich enough for five states.
