Lunch With A Twist Of The Islands

Island Twist Café
133-33 Merrick Blvd, Rosedale
723-1925

Hours: 6 a.m. to 4 p.m., daily

Just what exactly is the Island Twist?

Perhaps it is a Caribbean chef, making steamed fish, with a bed of peppers and onions. Or a plate of white rice with curried chicken or oxtails.

Whatever your island delight, Island Twist café in Rosedale, will most likely have it.

Hearty lunch specials are priced at $4.50 and are offered outside of typical lunch hours, but are not as large as dinner specials, which can serve two.

The establishment could go unnoticed, sitting near the Queens/Nassau border yet passersby will be drawn in from an aroma that draws you inside from frigid temperatures.

Take comfort in Island Twist’s specially prepared soups, and rekindle the body with Authentic Jamaican dishes.

Selections include curried goat, curried chicken, steamed vegetables, fish and more.

You can drink up, too, with the taste of Jamaican style roots and tonic drinks — sold by the bottle.

Diners can call ahead to have their favorite island dishes prepared without the wait.
