Have
You Seen This Man?
Police
are searching the city for a man connected to a series of bank
robberies this year, and they need Queens residents to help.
Although
the suspect – Gerald Delano Wilson – is only being sought for bank
robberies in Manhattan, police believe he frequently travels through
Queens to either hide out or visit a girlfriend.
Wilson
is a 63-year-old black man, described as 5’5” tall, 140 lbs, and
balding, with short brown hair and brown eyes.
Police
said that during his alleged robberies, Wilson typically passed notes
to tellers that read, “I have a 38 revolver and will use it. I will
shoot your co-workers. I am serious.”
Wilson
has been identified by fingerprints and is a prime suspect in nine
Manhattan bank jobs since January, police said. The latest robbery
occurred on July 18.
According
to police, Wilson is a “ladies man” and a gambler who takes
frequent trips to Atlantic City. He also hides out in Staten Island.
He always wears glasses and has a tattoo on his left forearm that says
“FRANCHETTY.”
Major
Case Squad detectives said police in both Staten Island and Atlantic
City are on the lookout for Wilson, as well as Atlantic City casino
security guards.
Authorities
consider Wilson armed and dangerous, and said he may soon be featured
on “America’s Most Wanted.”
Anyone
with information on Wilson is asked to contact Detective Raczynski of
the Major Case Squad at (646) 610-6910. The public can also call the
Crimestoppers Hotline at 1-800-577-TIPS using case number M-283.
Police
are offering a $2,000 cash reward for any information leading to
Wilson’s arrest.

Robbery Conviction
A
35-year-old Queens automobile mechanic has been convicted of robbing
two young women at gunpoint in March 2002 in Jamaica, according to
Quens District Attorney Richard Brown.
Gilbert
Hines of Queens Village, a mechanic at South Shore Tire Company, was
found guilty of first degree robbery and fourth and fifth degree
criminal possession of stolen property.
According
to trial testimony, on March 3, 2002 at about 4 a.m., the victims were
walking towards their vehicle near 143rd Street and 90th Avenue in
Jamaica after leaving a nightclub.
As
they passed a double parked car, the defendant jumped out of the car,
pointed a handgun at the victims and demanded their pocketbooks. The
victims handed over their handbags. The defendant then fled from the
scene in the vehicle.
An
investigation by detectives of the 103rd Precinct traced the
automobile license plate number to a Brooklyn woman and then to the
defendant who, when apprehended, was found to be in possession of the
personal identification information of one of the victims in the
Jamaica robbery.
